Young Leaders Summit Huge Success!

One word came to mind as the two-hundred-plus students gathered at the Texas State Technical College Cultural Arts Center. Leadership! Several RGV LEAD Student Ambassadors shared with their peers what leadership meant to them. They involved the audience in team-building activities and provided even more fun by awarding door prizes. Each high school group in attendance decorated its tables with centerpieces representing its school.

TSTC Provost Amanda Posada welcomed the future leaders, who spoke to the group about the value of developing leadership skills. She also shared with them the great programs that TSTC has to offer.

The keynote speaker for the event was Cameron County Sheriff Eric Garza. Garza delivered an enthusiastic speech as he meandered through the tables where students sat. He challenged students to go out there and do their best and make friends who would positively influence them. Above all, he told students never to stop being a learner no matter how old they get.

The RGV LEAD Ambassadors will host a spring workshop. Stay tuned for more details!
