Sharyland ISD Hosts Fall CTE Advisory Board Meeting

Nov. 2023 | Vol.5, Iss. 3

If you want to know what it means to think outside the box, visit the Sharyland ISD Career & Technical Education website! They are constantly developing ways to improve the department’s Advisory Committee meetings. This year is no different!

Rather than have all the pathways meet simultaneously, the career pathway advisory boards met virtually by clusters. Included in the meetings were pathway teachers, student representatives, post-secondary representatives, business & industry partners, and the district’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) counselors.

Teachers shared how they meet students’ needs in the specific pathways, and students talked about their experiences in the field. Then, Advisory Committee members shared ideas on how to utilize their organizations to enhance the particular pathway.

Janie Johnston Lopez, an RGV LEAD contractor who serves on the Education & Training Pathway, is a former CTE counselor and teacher.
