RGV LEAD Participates in Edinburg CISD CTE Advisory Board

Vol. 2, Iss. 6 | February 2021

RGV LEAD partners with school districts across the Rio Grande Valley, so when invited to join a Career & Technical Education Advisory Board, it is happy to oblige. One CTE Department, Advisory Board partner, is Edinburg CISD CTE, led by Arminda Lozano, CTE Director. The board aims to help shape students’ leadership, employability, and career skills in high school. The goal is to help prepare students for a competitive edge in high-demand and high-wage careers. Business and industry leaders, community leaders, parents, and students actively participate in the CTE Advisory Committee.

On February 25th, the committee actively engaged in a question-and-answer dialog conducted by student representatives from each of the four ECISD high schools.

Advisory members highly recommend that students receive employability certificates while in high school and focus on fine-tuning the soft skills needed in the world of work. As Al Barbosa, a member, put it, “Leave a great taste behind—much like a great meal. It’s something an employer will remember.”
