RGV LEAD Participates in Edinburg CISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Board

RGV LEAD partners with school districts across the Rio Grande Valley, so when it is invited to join a Career & Technical Education Advisory Board, it is happy to oblige. One such CTE Department Advisory Board partner is Edinburg CISD CTE, led by Arminda Lozano, CTE Director. The purpose of the board is to help shape student’s leadership, employability, and career skills while in high school. The goal is to help prepare students to have a competitive edge in high-demand and high-wage careers. Business and industry leaders, as well as community leaders, parents, and students actively participate in the CTE Advisory Committee.

On February 25th, the committee was actively engaged in a question and answer dialog which was conducted by student representatives from each of the four ECISD high schools.

Advisory members highly recommended that students receive employability certificates while in high school and focus on fine-tuning the soft skills needed in the world of work. As Al Barbosa, member, put it, “Leave a great taste behind – much like a great meal. It’s something an employer will remember.”
