RGV LEAD Hosts Town Hall Meeting
RGV LEAD held an in-person Town Hall and Demo Experience for the workforce, education, and business & industry partners at the RGV Partnership building in Weslaco on June 9th. Participants were privileged to witness how Virtual Reality can impact their organizations’ training programs. The Town Hall showcased how the Rio Grande Valley can use simulation-based training and career exploration in manufacturing and the skilled trades. Through innovative workforce development, classroom to career pathways can be promoted in the community through hands-on pre-employment training and career exploration with programs such as Transfr, Inc.
Virtual Reality provides work-based learning that aligns with industry standards and employer competencies. It is also a great way to teach the latest industry tools and equipment in a VR lab. Through the VR program, middle school and high school students, as well as job center sites, can experience different careers to help choose their pathways.
The Transfr, Inc. VR lab provides skills reports that can be sent to local employers to see who has mastered the in-demand job skills, therefore, pre-qualifying candidates based on skill proficiency. It’s a wonderful opportunity to transform newly-learned skills into well-paying jobs.
Great things are happening at RGV LEAD. Stay tuned for the next Town Hall meeting!
