THANK YOU to everyone who participated in creating this newsletter. I am honored and blessed to have it [Vol. 2, Iss.2 Oct. 2020] dedicated to me! Looking at the pictures, reading the comments, and thinking through all the memories has been a joy! It is lovely hearing from people I admire, respect, and love. Thank you for the blessing! I have always believed we’ve been doing the Lord’s work, and it’s a joy to have been doing the work with all of you. I also believe the best is yet to come? (Although I am retiring, I’ll be watching to find out – so keep up the great work!!!)
A few days ago I had the pleasure of talking with a former scholarship recipient who described the tremendous impact it made in his life to see our board members, successful business and community leaders, who were individuals who “looked like me and sounded like me.” That’s what we have been doing: helping the students of the Valley come to understand their own potential, develop their skills, and grow into successful community leaders who are in turn helping new generations of Valley students to succeed! When students succeed, their families, their communities, and the Valley as a whole reap the benefits. It has been a joy being part of this endeavor, and it’s a blessing to know the work will continue!
I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family (especially the grandchildren!) but the wonderful people of the Valley will always have a special place in my heart.
Thank you tremendously! I shall always love and miss the many talented, dedicated people who are part of RGV LEAD! May the Lord bless you in the future! Many hugs and blessings to all of you!
