Summer educator extern Michael Rodriguez teaches Building Trades at Mercedes High School, but this summer, he is learning about pipe fitting at the McAllen Careers Institute. His knowledge of pipe fitting and the doors it can open for students was enhanced by presentations from Carlos Ivan Salinas, McAllen Careers Institute School Director and CEO.

Salinas informed extern Rodriguez that students can earn a Welder Specialist or Combo Pipe Welder certificate. In addition, they can earn certificates in Pipe Fitting and Stick & Pipe. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. More importantly, many job opportunities are available upon graduation from the McAllen Careers Institute.
