May 25, 2019 | RGV LEAD Moves
History In The Making
The RGV LEAD Board of Directors made history with the actions taken at its May 21 meeting held at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen. At this meeting, the Board made several important decisions about RGV LEAD’s future.
The Board approved the timelines for hiring RGV LEAD’s new Director, with the goal of having new leadership in place by mid-October 2019. RGV LEAD’s new Director will succeed Dr. Norma Salaiz, who resigned in December 2018 and now serves on the RGV LEAD Associate Board. The Director will also succeed Patricia G. (Pat) Bubb. Bubb was RGV LEAD’s director from 1992 through 2013, and she is serving as Interim Director until RGV LEAD’s new Director has been named.
The Board also approved moving RGV LEAD’s office from Harlingen to Weslaco. RGV LEAD’s office will relocate to the Rio Grande Valley Partnership at 322 South Missouri Avenue in Weslaco effective September 1.
The Rio Grande Valley Partnership is the Valley’s regional chamber of commerce. The Partnership drives advancement in the Rio Grande Valley by unifying stakeholders in the spirit of collaboration and regional progress, and by being an influential advocate for the region. The Partnership and RGV LEAD serve the same region (Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy Counties), and the two have already collaborated on initiatives such as the Young Entrepreneurs of the RGV. The strengthened collaboration between the two organizations has great potential for both organizations and for the Valley as a whole.
