Business Partner of the Year – Texas Gas Service
Texas Gas Service has been a supporter of college-and-career-focused education for more than 20 years. The natural gas distribution company has generously given of its time by having a representative serve on the RGV LEAD board, formerly Tech Prep of the Rio Grande Valley. Texas Gas Service has provided both financial and in-kind support for various RGV LEAD initiatives including the regional Education & Career EXPO for several years, and many other educational-related activities.
Texas Gas Service supported RGV LEAD when it was Tech Prep of the Rio Grande Valley and Pat Bubb was the director. It continued its support of RGV LEAD throughout the directorship of Dr. Norma Salaiz; and continues to do so with the present executive director, Luis Rodriguez. Texas Gas Service was there to assist RGV LEAD’s move from the Harlingen TSTC campus to the Weslaco Rio Grande Valley Partnership building. The Texas Gas Service representatives have provided remarkable leadership for RGV LEAD during its season of transitions.
Accepting the award for Texas Gas Service is Naomi Perales, who for more than 10 years has served on the RGV LEAD Board. She chaired the RGV LEAD board for seven years and continues to serve on the RGV LEAD Executive Board where she is visibly active as chair of several initiatives and in the RGV LEAD Marketing Commit-tee. Naomi was there to take an active, hands-on approach in moving RGV LEAD from Harlingen to Weslaco and to assist in the transition of new leadership. She is continuously providing support for initiatives led by RGV LEAD and other organizations.
Naomi Perales, an outstanding community leader, has modeled servant leadership and has “gone above and beyond” in providing volunteer leadership with excellence. It gives us great pleasure to name Texas Gas Service as RGV LEAD’s 2020 Employer of the Year.
